Gala 2010 - "A Night in Monte Carlo!"

This year's Gala held at the luxurious Hyatt Regency Coolum on Saturday, May 15, 2010 was another great night as we celebrated the Foundation's 3rd Anniversary with a black tie homage to the glamour of the French Riviera.

The Hyatt's Pavilion was transformed into the glamorous French Riviera principality of Monte Carlo complete with Ferrari and Maserati sports cars, cocktail and champagne bars, Cafe de Paris, delicious gournet food and of course the infamous Monte Carlo casino.

The response and emotion at our Gala truly highlighted what remarkable steps a community can achieve through working together.

The media coverage together with the feedback we have received from many of those who attended has been simply amazing.

The evening raised $60,000 to assist the Foundation in its efforts to alleviate the suffering of breast cancer patients on the Sunshine Coast. This was a fantastic result given the current economic climate.

Here's what our Guests say

“To say simply that the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Foundation Gala is the most sophisticated, thoughtful and professional charity event on the Sunshine Coast is to limit the success and impact of the night. It is an event that would not be out of place in Sydney or Los Angeles or any other venue where expectation of style and attention to detail is exceptionally high. Attendees on the night are transported to a completely different place. Last year's evocation of classic Hollywood glamour perfectly conjured up that era, while guests played the tables and drank aptly-named martinis and dined on excellent, generous food. Kylie and John understand that an event that does not scrimp on what it provides is more likely to elicit greater returns to the charity. The funds raised are the most important objective of the evening, but their determination to produce something beyond the ordinary is as much a goal. They succeed at both.”

Alex Mankiewicz, Noosa

“Out shines every event I have attended (and there are many) including many exclusive Sydney based events.”

“The cmbcf gala is one of the most sophisticated professional, not to mention successful, charity events on the Sunshine Coast. Hyatt Regency Coolum is extremely proud to be the host venue of the Anniversary Gala and we look forward to continuing the association between the Foundation and the Resort.”

Brooke Retchford, Hyatt Regency Coolum
“The gala evening is the ‘best night of the year’ to quote my husband. Where else can you be entertained, sip French champagne and dine on gourmet food while chatting with old and new friends? Every year there is a twist to the theme to keep us guessing. To make it even better while we are having a wonderful time we are supporting a worthwhile home-grown Sunshine Coast Foundation.“

Maree and Malcolm Elks, Buderim
“The cmbcf gala is a premier event on the Sunshine Coast that continues to set the standard for charity functions. Great charity, great event.”

Myles McNamara, Sunshine Coast
“I have had the pleasure of attending the cmbcf gala for the past two years. It is a wonderful opportunity to contribute to such a worthy cause whilst socialising in a casino style atmosphere. This gala is special because it is so different to other black tie events. The high standard of venue, food, refreshments and entertainment has also enticed our friends from interstate to attend. The gala will always be an annual event on our social calendar.”

Lyn Dunbar, Sunshine Coast

“High  stakes all class.  Adored the Moet Piccolo on arrival. You absolutely did not disappoint. The Sunshine Coast has finally come of age in the Black Tie stakes. Can’t wait to receive my invite in the post for next year.  Will definitely bring friends and business associates.”

Lindsay and  Hannah Berry, Melbourne

“WOW! My husband and I have attended many gala events but none as stylish and as well run as the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Foundation Gala. From the time you walked in to the beautiful entry, the wonderful beverages, the scrumptious meal & relaxed friendly people having a great time, you felt very special. The committee say it is going to be bigger & better this year Is that possible?  But these are very special & dedicated people so we are looking forward to the best night out on the Coast!“

Here's what the Media say

“Best event of the Year for me.” Describing his time hosting the inaugural Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Foundation ‘Casino Royale’ Gala 2008 Beretts was the host with the most.”

Mark Beretta, Channel 7 Sunrise Sports Personality, April 2008

“They had me on arrival. Waiters circulating with trays of Moet Piccolos ...but the surprises didn’t stop there. The organisers of this inaugural event at the Hyatt Regency Coolum had not left any stone unturned in their quest to raise the glitz and glamour stakes on the Sunshine Coast.”

Nikki Parkinson, then Regional Editor, Style Magazine, May 3, 2008

“The A-listers were out in force at the super-swish Cindy Mackenzie Foundation ball ...the Moet and gourmet food offerings went down a treat ...the show stopper was a trip for four to Sydney to have dinner with Melissa Doyle...fellow Sunrise star Mark Beretta joined in the spirit, offering to host a lunch for four in Sydney. Mark was so impressed by the night he has agreed to come back next year.”

Gordon Clark, Sunshine Coast Daily, May 6, 2008

“’A Nod to Classic Hollywood’ became one of the hottest tickets in town, with many of Sunshine Coast’s own A-List celebrities spotted at the cocktail bar. Adding to the night’s star-struck tone were glamorous guest hosts Deborah Hutton and Sami, Todd and Dave from Hot 91 plus special VIP and genuine Hollywood royalty, Alex Mankiewicz, daughter of multiple Oscar winning writer/director Joseph L. Mankiewicz.”

“It is widely regarded as the social event on the Sunshine Coast calendar and anyone who was at the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Foundation Gala will no doubt agree with this assessment. Fine food, fun and fabulous entertainment from a killer band, plus the added glitter from the star-power of glamorous Deborah Hutton, all contributed to an exceptional night that had adrenalin levels soaring.”

Nathanael Cooper, Editor ESP Magazine, April 24, 2009
“We are so happy to be associated with the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Foundation and have found their fund raiser events to be so unique, fun and, most importantly, help raise money for locals.”
