With everyone’s minds now focused on the festive season, Pinktober™ seems like so long ago.
Pinktober™ is a creation of the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Foundation and our way to celebrate October, the month known world-wide as breast cancer awareness month. Hot 91’s partnership with Pinktober™ has helped gain further awareness for the Foundation and raise money to support local families battling with breast cancer.
And ... What a month Pinktober™ was!
Pinktober™ Roadshow
The Pinktober™ Tour 2009 officially kicked off on Monday 28th of September when Hot 91 took to the streets with their “PINKED” up broadcast van for the first ever PinktoberTM Roadshow. Bevo, the Hot team and the Foundation made their way around the Sunshine Coast doing live broadcasts from many local businesses, and the fun didn’t stop there ... Hot 91 also hosted Nintendo Wii competitions, gave out Eagle Boys Pizza, Tropical Sno and organic pink fairy floss.
And the day everyone was waiting for... The Pinktober™ Chook Run.
Pinktober™ Chook Run
The original “Chookie”, Troy Deighton ran his 76 km journey from Noosa to the Caloundra Music Fest ival. A 76 km run is an accomplishment in itself, but to be running that far in extreme heat in a very attractive pink chook suit and pink feather boas is definitely worth congratulating.
“Chookie” had a few pit stops along the way where people gathered to meet with him and learn more about his motivation for doing the gruelling run. “Chookie” was once again raising awareness and funds for cmbcf – so they can continue to support local breast cancer sufferers and their families.
As well as these fun events, many local businesses and individuals participated in Pinktober™ by selling cmbcf merchandise or hosting trivia nights, pink cosmo cocktail nights, high teas and decorating their offices, cars or homes in the powerful colour of pink.
In supporting Pinktober™ you continue to keep the Foundation at the top-of-mind in the community and help promote early detection of breast cancer. The money raised from these various fundraisers stays on the Sunshine Coast to help Sunshine Coast families.
If you are interested in supporting the Cindy Mackenzie Breast Cancer Foundation’s Pinktober™ in 2010 we would love to hear from you. Please feel free to contact the Foundation on 1300 55 77 10 or email us here.
Thank you!
The Foundation is very grateful to all those in the community who so generously supported Pinktober™ 2009 through either sponsorship, fundraising or volunteering time. We would especially like to thank and acknowledge
